Ancient Art: Aboriginal Paintings
Australian Aborigines settled on the Australian continent somewhere between 60,000 and 80,000 years ago. They are the oldest continuous culture on the planet. They survived mainly because of their reverence and “oneness with nature” and living in harmony with the land. Their art is directly linked to, and a reflection of their beliefs. Their techniques and style of painting, known as “Dreamings”, are the basis for many art movements and have influenced many contemporary artists. We are continuing our lessons to further explore Aboriginal Art this week and to give the children that missed the lesson on Friday, a chance to also experience it.
